Filming has wrapped on Netflix’s upcoming thriller, Apex, which stars Charlize Theron, Taron Egerton, and Eric Bana. We expect to see Apex on Netflix sometime in 2026! Here’s everything we know so far.
Apex is an upcoming Netflix Original thriller film directed by Baltasar Kormákur, and written by Jeremy Robbins.
The film has extensive number of producers, starting with Chernin Entertainment represented by executive producers Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and David Ready. Second is Ian Bryce Productions with Ian Bryce. Followed by Charlize Theron, Beth Kono, and AJ Dix for Secret Menu; and Baltasar Kormákur for RVK Studios. Lastly, Ray Angelic, Will McCance, and Dawn Olmstead for Secret Menu.
What is the plot of Apex?
Sasha, an adrenaline junkie and grieving from a devastating loss, decides to find solice in the rapids of a menacing river, but the river and the wildlife isn’t the only thing that’s dangerous in the wilds of Australia, as she finds herself being hunted in a dangerous game of cat and mouse.
Who are the cast members of Apex?
Charlize Theron plays the lead role of Sasha in the film. The actress previously starred on Netflix in The Old Guard, and will be reprising her role as Andy in its upcoming sequel. The actress has also starred in Netflix titles such as both Murder Mystery films, and The School for Good and Evil. She was also an executive producer on the beloved crime-drama Mindhunter. Her extensive career has seen her nominated for numerous awards, including an Academy-Award win for her role as the serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster.

Taron Egerton and Eric Bana have also been confirmed to star in Apex.
Egerton recently saw incredible success on Netflix recently after starring in the fantastic action-thriller Carry-On. He was also the voice of Rian in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. He is most well known for his role as Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin in Kingsman, and as Elton John in the biopic Rocketman.
As for Bana, he will be seen on the upcoming Netflix series Untamed. He is most well known as John Meehan in the viral show Dirty John, and for starring as Hector in Troy. He was also the original Bruce Banner in the 2003 Hulk film.

Filming for Apex took place in New South Wales, Australia, and was shot between February 2, 2025 and May 15, 2025.
When is Apex coming to Netflix?
As filming came to an end in May 2025, we aren’t expecting to see the film on Netflix before the end of the year.
It’s more than likely we will see the film released on Netflix sometime in 2026.
For now, we await Netflix to make an official announcement, and will expect to learn more when they announce their 2026 line-up in several months time.
