We’re slowly getting word of what’s coming to Netflix throughout August 2025 for those in the United States, and Netflix’s summer of licensing is continuing with the former HBO Max Original series Love Life, set to arrive early in the month for a limited time.

Set to arrive on Netflix US on August 5, 2025, with both seasons consisting of 20 episodes, the series was created by Sam Boyd and was one of the earliest HBO Max Originals, airing its two seasons in 2020 and 2021 before being canceled and subsequently pulled from HBO Max altogether in 2022. Since then, the series has been widely unavailable, except for being locked behind paid VOD services.

The romantic comedy anthology series followed a different protagonist each season on the journey from first love to last love, with each half-hour episode chronicling one of their relationships. Anna Kendrick headlined the first season, with William Jackson Harper’s character being the subject of season 2.

The show featured a large revolving cast of actors throughout its 20 episodes and two seasons, with Kendrick and Jackson Harper joined by Zoë Chao, Peter Vack, Sasha Compère, Lesley Manville, Jessica Williams, Comedian CP, Punkie Johnson, and Keith David. Many crossed over into each season too.

This isn’t the first time the series has appeared on Netflix overall. As we reported back in early 2022, Netflix UK would carry the first season beginning March 31st, with season 1 added and season 2 added later that year. It would then be removed from Netflix UK entirely in December 2023. That licensing came through a deal Netflix UK has had with the BBC for many years, which first aired the show. We don’t have extensive data on how well the show performed, although we can see that it accumulated approximately 1.9 million viewing hours in the UK for season 1 and 900,000 for season 2 in 2023.

The show is being licensed to Netflix US from Lionsgate Television, which has been on a licensing tear with Netflix over the past few months following its breakup with Starz. Netflix is picking up its series The Hunting Wives exclusively in the US in July 2025, after being initially bound for Starz. Another pickup for July includes all three seasons of Hightown, and earlier this year, they picked up P-Valley.
