2025 is still in full swing, and there are still a lot of movies to look forward to for the rest of this year, but as Netflix has already been hard at work prepping its slate for 2026, it’s time to look ahead at what’s caught our eye so far for 2026.
Naturally, all the projects listed below are subject to change and may not even occur at all. While some titles are already confirmed for 2026, many are not, and we’re simply placing them in next year due to production schedules and other information we’ve received or been informed of. Simply put, expect this list to change and evolve over time.
That means there are actually several movies we’d love to include on this list, but can’t for various reasons. Whether it’s the Bioshock movie, which hasn’t set a production date, the Gray Man sequels, which we’re sure will happen at some point (or maybe not), or the adaptation of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, which looks to be slow getting off the ground.
Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew
Since the release of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in 2010, there haven’t been any further Chronicles of Narnia films. Rumors of a reboot of the franchise had been circulating for years. In November 2022, we broke the news that Netflix was eyeing Barbie director Greta Gerwig to direct the revival of the Chronicles of Narnia. Following the unprecedented success of Barbie, the world is eagerly anticipating what Greta Gerwig has in store for the adaptation of The Magician’s Nephew, the first book in the franchise’s chronological order.
Filming is currently ongoing for the movie, which is scheduled to be released on Netflix and in IMAX theatres on December 26, 2026. It will star Sex Education’s Emma Mackey as Jadis, also known as the White Queen, and Daniel Craig as Uncle Andrew. Not to mention, Carey Mulligan and Meryl Streep are rumored to star, with the latter eyed to play Aslan.
Netflix films over the years have been very hit-and-miss. We’ve seen unprecedented success with films like Red Notice and Carry-On, but for every Red Notice, there are The Electric State and Rebel Moon. We’re entering 2026, incredibly excited about the release of Greta Gerwig’s Narnia film, and we expect it to be one of the most successful films on Netflix to date and it’s also been given a very rare theatrical window, the likes we’ve not seen before.
The film is centered on children Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer, who, after discovering magical rings crafted by Digory’s Uncle Andrew, are transported to the Wood Between the Worlds, where they accidentally awaken and unleash the evil Queen Jadis.
The Adventures of Cliff Booth
Of the nine feature films directed by Quentin Tarantino, only one has ever been a sequel, Kill Bill: Vol. 2. However, we would use “sequel” loosely, considering Kill Bill was initially produced as one film, and it was only because of the film’s runtime (which exceeded 4 hours) that it was required to be split into two separate features length films. That means, after a career spanning over 38 years, The Adventures of Cliff Booth is the first official sequel to a Quentin Tarantino film. But there’s good news and bad news.
Bad news? Tarantino won’t be directing the film. The good news? Tarantino has penned the script, and directing duties have been assigned to David Fincher, the man behind Netflix’s Mindhunter and notable movies such as Se7en, Fight Club, and Gone Girl.
Brad Pitt has already been confirmed to reprise his role as Cliff Booth, and several other actors have also been confirmed for the film, including Carla Gugino, Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. With filming scheduled to take place from July 2025 to January 2026, we anticipate a release in late 2026.
Little is currently known about the plot of the film, except that Hollywood stuntman Cliff Booth has found himself in a new line of work as a Hollywood studio fixer.
Enola Holmes 3
Millie Bobby Brown is one of the biggest actresses of her generation, and ever since she became a huge star on Stranger Things, Netflix has made sure to give the actress plenty of projects to work on. So far, for Netflix, she’s starred in Stranger Things, The Electric State, Damsel, and both Enola Holmes films.
Due to return sometime in 2026, Enola Holmes 3 wrapped filming in June 2025, and it has already been confirmed that the likes of Henry Cavill, Helena Bonham Carter, Himesh Patel, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, and Louis Partridge will reprise their roles from the previous films.
Taking on her most dangerous case to date, Enola Holmes travels to Malta, where her personal and professional dreams collide.
The RIP
Starting 2026 strong are lifelong friends Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, who have teamed up again to star in an incredible new action-thriller for Netflix, The Rip. Action thrillers have been some of the biggest hits on Netflix, with titles like Red Notice, The Union, Spenser Confidential, The Mother, and more. There’s no doubt in our minds that The Rip will be nothing short of another major success for Netflix.
The pair stars as two cops from Miami’s Tactical Narcotics Team. Restless and eager to seek justice for the unsolved murder of a captain, their team acts on a tip, leading them to a Cartel stash in an abandoned warehouse containing millions of dollars. However, the haul begins to unravel the fragile trust within the team as word spreads, leading to outside forces closing in and loyalties being called into question.
Joining Damon and Affleck in the film are the likes of Steven Yuen, Kyle Chandler, Daisuke Tsuji, and Teyana Taylor.
Netflix Release Date: January 16, 2026
Ladies First
Rosamund Pike and Sacha Baron Cohen lead Netflix’s upcoming romantic comedy film Ladies First, directed by The Beautiful Game’s Thea Sharrock. Certainly a film that will likely cause more of a stir as we get closer to its release, the story (written by Natalie Krinsky, Cinco Paul, and Katie Silberman) is an alternate take on our world, where the roles of society have been reversed, and a matriarchal society has led humanity. Cue Sacha Baron Cohen, who plays a chauvinist from our world who is transported to the alternate world and faces challenges in the form of Rosamund Pike, a female version of himself.
The film will feature the acting talents of Richard E. Grant, Emily Mortimer, Charles Dance, Fiona Shaw, Tom Davis, Weruche Opia, and Kathryn Hunter.
The Mosquito Bowl
A truly inspiring film is on the way to Netflix, courtesy of Peter Berg’s upcoming World War II film, The Mosquito Bowl. Led by the incredibly talented Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson, Nicholas Galitzine, and Tom Francis, the film is based on the real-life sporting event that took place in the Pacific Theater in WW2 when the 4th and 29th Marin Regiments, on the island of Guadalcanal, would play against each other in an epic Football game that featured some of the earliest legends of the game, who would later survive the upcoming and bloody battle of Okinawa, play in the NFL. Sadly, many of the men involved in the epic match would perish in combat.
A 2026 release could be ambitious, as filming is due to take place later in 2025. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing Peter Berg’s film on Netflix before the end of 2026.
Office Romance
Jennifer Lopez has already had two movies under her belt at Netflix, with two very action-oriented titles. The Mother, released in 2023, was the most significant success, while Atlas, released more recently, performed somewhat less well. Another sci-fi/action-oriented movie was in the works, but that looks to be taking a backseat with more traditional dramas and romantic comedies taking its place. We’ve The Last Mrs. Parrish, which is set to shoot later this year, and one that has already concluded is Office Romance.
Lopez stars alongside a compelling ensemble cast of comedy and drama legends, including Brett Goldstein, who has gained prominence in recent years on Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso, as well as Betty Gilpin from Netflix’s GLOW, and Bradley Whitford, who has appeared in numerous projects over the years. The plot revolves around a CEO figure who runs a tight ship and promises not to engage romantically with her employees – that’s until a certain lawyer comes onto the scene.
Pookoo

A lot is riding on Skydance Animation’s second outing with Netflix after a lukewarm first outing with Spellbound in late 2024. While Pookoo was initially scheduled to launch in 2025, it has ultimately been given a release date for sometime in 2026 instead. No reason behind the delay, but I have to say, from the clips and screenshots shared thus far, it’s absolutely gorgeous. From stunning colors to fantastic character designs, the film already has a lot going for it, but will it manage to do what other animated films have struggled to execute well and connect with a broad audience? That remains to be seen.
Produced by John Lasseter and being directed by Nathan Greno, the synopsis for the film reads, “When two natural sworn enemies of The Valley, a small woodland creature and a majestic bird, magically trade places, they must set off on an adventure of a lifetime to save their home.”
Animals

We’ve already covered The RIP up top, but we could be in store for two major Ben Affleck movies in 2026, given that Animals has already finished filming. Affleck is writing, directing, and starring in this new action thriller, which features a solid cast alongside him, including Gillian Anderson, Steven Yeun, Kerry Washington, and Luis Gerardo Mendez, one of the most impressive ensembles Netflix has assembled in its history.
Also known as Animals of Los Angeles or Be Gentlemen, the new flick sees the son of Affleck’s character, L.A. Mayoral candidate Milo Bradford, kidnapped and ransomed, and it’s down to him and his wife to come up with the money to get him back. The problem? He’s broke, so he has to get his hands dirty in retrieving his son himself. It doesn’t sound like it’s doing anything extraordinary, but given Affleck’s caliber, we suspect what may arrive on our screens is extraordinary.
The Whisper Man

One way or another, we’ve been tracking The Whisper Man on Netflix for quite some time. We first became aware of the project all the way back in April 2022, and after a couple more years in development, the project was officially unveiled earlier this year with an all-star cast, and production has since gotten underway. It’s being produced by AGBO, the company run by Anthony and Joe Russo, with James Ashcroft directing. It adapts the brilliant novel by Alex North.
Filming wrapped up in June 2025 after a couple of months of shooting in New Jersey. Assuming all goes as planned in the post-production process, this is high on our list for 2026.

The slate above is very much reflective of Dan Lin’s tenure at Netflix, with 2025’s slate being a mix of old guard and new, and there are definitely a few takeaways. Action and romance seem to be the name of the game right now, and that’s also reflected in Netflix’s international movie slate. Beyond that, big bankable stars are another throughline throughout much of the projects, and we’re also seeing Netflix lean, as always, heavily into book adaptations.
Those are our very early picks at what new movie projects we’re most excited about in 2026, but what are yours? Let us know in the comments down below.
