Netflix is releasing its second British Horror Story documentary series, with Fred and Rose West set to be the center of a new three-part limited series that will be released globally in May 2025.

Fred and Rose West were a British couple who became notorious for committing a series of horrific murders between the 1960s and 1980s. They are among the most infamous serial killers in UK history. They were responsible for the torture, sexual assault, and murder of at least 12 young women and girls, including members of their own family. Many of the victims were buried at their home, 25 Cromwell Street, which became known as the House of Horrors. Their crimes involved extreme brutality and long-term abuse, often carried out in secret behind the façade of a normal family life. Fred died by suicide in prison in 1995 while awaiting trial, while Rose was convicted of 10 murders and is serving a life sentence with no possibility of parole.

You can read some expanded takes on the story that’ll be explored in the Netflix docu-series on CNN and The Guardian.

Per Netflix, the new docu-series will showcase some recently discovered police recordings and new first-person accounts detailing their horrific crime spree. Production on the new docu-series took place throughout 2024, with the series now set to land on Netflix globally on May 14th, 2025. It’s being split up into three episodes (per Deadline), with one titled Fred, the second titled Rose, and the finale named The Trial.

The London-based production company Blink Films is behind the new limited series for Netflix and serves as their first for the streamer. Some of their other projects in their history include Concorde: The Untold Story, Prime Suspect: Murder in Suburbia, and Web of Death. They also participated in the 2025 Peacock Original documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy.

The team has also previously covered the story back in 2018 with Sir Trevor McDonald presenting a special 60-minute episode distributed by Blue Ant International.

This is the latest Netflix documentary series to carry a larger name, with this being the second entry in the “A British Horror Story” collection. The first was back in 2022 with the series exploring the exploits of the notorious Jimmy Savile, although 72Films produced that entry. Other documentary “franchises” for lack of a better phrase include American Murder, Conversations with a Killer, and Crime Scene.

Dan Dewsbury (Louis Theroux—Forbidden AmericaHattonThe Story of Us) is directing, and Dan Chambers, David Herman, and Fiona Stourton are producing. Peepshow Studio are behind the animation and graphics for the series.
