A Korean man’s unusual date with an apparent life-sized sex doll has become a hot topic in the country.
The unusual “couple” was spotted at an amusement park in Gyeongju during this year’s Lunar New Year holiday. The man in question posted the photos of his date with the doll in an online review of his recent visit to the Gyeongju World on January 5, KST. In the review, he revealed the name of the doll to be “Rem.”
He wrote a detailed review, anthropomorphizing Rem in the process.
I couldn’t get on all the rides because it was winter, but I was happy to take her on rides like the Kraken (an apparent misspelling of the roller coaster Draken), the Magic Bike, the Air Balloon and the Bumper Cars… It was the best!

It was evident from the photos that Rem was a sex doll, but according to some people who have seen the two in public, it can be hard to distinguish it from a real person. A netizen who saw the man and Rem in a wheelchair, waiting for an elevator at Busan station recalled that they had mistaken the doll for an actual human being.
While life-sized sex dolls are not common in South Korea, their popularity has seemingly increased in recent years. It was only in 2022 that the Korea Customs Service started permitting them to be imported.
