Netflix is bringing a range of new shows to your screens in July 2025, and one of the most unique is Entitled, an eight-part comedy limited series headlined by Brett Gelman (Stranger Things, Fleabag) and created by Matt Morgan (Mister Winner, The Mimic).
Filmed in 2022 in the United Kingdom, the series was initially intended to air on Channel 4 and Showtime. However, as far as we can tell, the series never aired as originally scheduled for 2023. The show did air on Foxtel in Australia, hence the smattering of reviews available for the show. Some websites reference a 2025 release for Channel 4, but we were unable to find any official information.
The synopsis for the 8-part series reads “Gabe, an American widower, must get to know his British wife’s estranged family in their crumbling gothic mansion in the English countryside.”
Gelman headlines the cast as Gabe alongside co-stars Pippa Bennett-Warner, Brendan Patricks, Donald Sumpter, Charlotte Arrowsmith, and Mark Quartley.
The IMDb score stands at a somewhat disappointing 5.6 out of 10, albeit only on a handful of reviews, given that the show has been mostly unavailable to this point. Many audience reviews have criticized its quirky aesthetic and meandering, unfocused storyline. Others were more praising, though, praising its engaging humor. One user was ultimately confused about what exactly the show was saying in their review titled Strangest Show I’ve seen in Years, “It’s definitely not a comedy. But what is it? It’s not funny, so it’s not a comedy. It’s creepy at times but not scary, so not a horror. It’s exciting in short amounts of time, but not thrilling, so it’s not a thriller. What genre is this show??”
Entitled is part of a big slate of new licensed series being added to Netflix in the United States and continues Netflix’s continued pickups from Showtime in recent years, following the likes of Your Honor and Patrick Melrose, among others. Other licensed series added to Netflix US in July include Sullivan’s Crossing, Mr. Robot, The Steve Harvey Show, and Sneaky Pete.
The extent of Gelman’s role in Stranger Things season 5 has yet to be revealed, although he was a big part of filming, even featuring in one of the earlier cast photos officially released by Netflix. He was first introduced in the Netflix show back in Season 2, playing the role of Murray Bauman, with his character undergoing significant changes over the years he has been featured. He played a significant role in the most recent fourth season, accompanying Joyce on her trip to Russia to rescue Hopper.
Entitled begins streaming on Netflix in the United States on July 15th. You can view Netflix’s full July 2025 lineup for the month in our comprehensive preview, available at the link provided.
