The singer behind one of the members of PLAVE, a K-Pop virtual idol band, has come under criticism after it was found that he had once released highly misogynistic lyrics.
The singer behind PLAVE’s Eunho…
… is actually a singer called Seo Sangwon. He was active as a rapper called
YANO prior to his debut. He also promoted under the groups Xeno-T and Topp Dogg.
Back then, he had released a solo mixtape with several tracks on it. One of the tracks contained lyrics that were deemed vulgar and misogynistic. They include, “to describe you would basically be a b*tch, everyone can tell you’re a b*tch,” as well as “pay for your own means, b*tch,” and more.
Another song of his had lyrics such as “your stomach looks like a pregnant woman’s” amongst other lines.
Netizens were appalled at the lyrics, criticizing the star for the vulgarity and negative portrayal of women.
- If you fangirl over him, you’re just boy crazy.
- LOL can’t believe there’s such people behind the characters.
- Misogyny is one thing, but those lyrics are murderous. That’s so scary. What’s up with him?
- I can’t believe that people are saying people are making a fuss over 2D idols… And that they’re just letting this go. Y’all should try being this easygoing to others too.
- This is so harmful, really.
PLAVE is made out of real singers behind their virtual avatars. The members are not publicly known, but fans have managed to identify them anyway.
