While comeback times may vary for groups, it is not unusual for an active group to return with a new release — a single album, mini album, or full album — around once or twice a year. When a group has many comebacks in a year, it can be stressful for them to have so many continuous releases.
Here’s Why Multiple Comebacks A Year Can Be Overwhelming According To ITZY’s Lia
On the other hand, too few releases is not good either, with long delays between releases becoming a point of concern for fans. Recently, a popular girl group hit a significant amount of time between their releases.
In 2015, Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment jointly introduced a 12 membered girl group that consisted of various units. Following some pre-debut activities, WJSN (also known as Cosmic Girls) made their debut.
Following the addition of Yeonjung, the group promoted as thirteen until the hiatus of the Chinese members, Cheng Xiao, Meiqi and Xuanyi, in 2018.
The group remained active at varying levels, with the Chinese members eventually leaving the group officially in 2023. Two members also did not renew with Starship, but were reported to still be members of WJSN. Since then, fans have patiently waiting for the group to return, though there has not yet been any word.
The group’s last comeback, Last Sequence, was on July 5, 2022, meaning it has now been over 1000 days since their release.
Fans have reacted with a range of emotions, many expressing sadness that they have not yet returned while others have a less optimistic outlook.
