Rumors Of Starship Entertainment’s New Girl Group Spark Heated Debate Over IVE’s Management

Is IVE no more a priority?

Starship Entertainment, home to the fourth-gen powerhouse girl group IVE, is facing heat from netizens for its speculated new girl group.

Though the agency has not made any official announcement, rumors have been circulating online since last year that they plan to debut a new girl group in 2025. But many netizens seem to be opposed to the idea.

In a viral post on Nate Pann, a netizen criticized Starship Entertainment’s possible debuting of a new girl group this year, arguing that their full focus should be on promoting IVE right now. The OP (original poster) also claimed that IVE’s success was all carried by the established popularity of Yujin and Wonyoung and not due to the good management of their company.

While many have agreed with the OP’s analysis, many others have also defended Starship Entertainment’s decision, pointing out the practicalities of the industry.

  • “Fans might be disappointed, but from the company’s perspective, they need to capitalize on IVE’s success. Plus, IVE is now entering their fifth year, so it’s only sensible to bring in a new group.”
  • “It seems like they have no idea about the situation. After ‘Baddie,’ the group was only able to survive through AnYoungz’s (Yujin and Wonyoung) power. To be honest, the agency has no sense of trends, and their songs are the biggest issue. They are too childish and bland. They’d be better off if they let go of Ryan Jhun and used someone else.”
  • “AnYoungz might be doing well now, but even they are completing 8 years in the industry. So, Starship needs to capitalize on IVE’s success and introduce new faces. Even for the new SM girl group, it’d be better to call them ‘aespa’s little sister group’ than ‘SM’s rookie group.’ It’s the same for IVE.”
  • “I understand the company’s point of view, but honestly, wouldn’t it be more profitable to treat IVE better and get them to renew their contracts? Starship isn’t a well-known agency to the public, and it’s basically the first time in their history that they have produced a top-tier group. Even that’s because two of the members got famous on their own.”
  • “They’re in the fifth year..They need to debut their next group.”
