While still being a hot topic among fans, Single’s Inferno 4 has come under major criticism and had a lot of controversies attached to the show and contestants.

1. The series being dubbed the “Lee Si An” show
While the episodes continued to be dubbed “boring,” one of the leading reasons was the focus on Lee Si An in the episodes, with many criticizing the producers for “forcing” her onto viewers. Although it isn’t odd for the series to be centered on one contestant, many thought the formula was getting boring.

2. Lee Si An’s legal troubles
On January 21, Leaders Entertainment revealed that Lee Si An had breached her exclusive contract and additional agreements with the agency and made it clear that it would pursue legal action in response to the breach.
After securing Lee’s involvement in Single’s Inferno 4, which began filming in June 2024, the actress abruptly informed Leaders in August of her desire to end the contract just after completing filming.
3. Yuk Jun Seo’s behavior towards Chung You Jin
During one of the first episodes that aired, the contestants were in a communal space. Netizens noticed that while You Jin was in the shot and after replying to Jun Seo, he didn’t attempt to speak to her or interact. This came after You Jin showed interest in him.

In a later episode, while the subtitles were wrong and Jun Seo didn’t tell You Jin to shut it, telling her to be quiet as he was playing pool and she was having fun was deemed rude and disrespectful.

4. The panel’s comments about the contestants
Throughout the series, the panel garnered mixed reactions for their opinions of the show, whether it was their attitude towards Chung You Jin (and other contestants)…

5. Lee Si An and Yuk Jun Seo’s bed scene
When Lee Si An and Yuk Jun Seo shared a bed together after a night in Paradise, it sparked criticism for both contestants. Some saw it as cementing both having a “red flag” personality, with Jun Seo seemingly aiding the decision so fast, or Si An’s indecision with other male contestants.
Jun Seo’s “physical” behavior towards Si An also sparked fury, especially because netizens saw him use physicality with the female contestants on other occasions.
6. Yuk Jun Seo’s past cartoons resurface
While Yuk Jun Seo was being called out for being a “red flag” on the show, an Instiz post called out a cartoon from 2021 that the contestant did. The cartoon regained attention amid the rising popularity of the series, and netizens noticed it contained derogatory words.
An example came from a scene from his cartoon titled “Invisible Triple-Kick.” It shows a supermarket named “Ni Am Mart,” which is considered an insult toward mothers and in another scene, one of the characters comments, “Doesn’t that person look disabled talking to themselves like that?”
It gained a lot of criticism from fans, especially following his behavior on the show.
7. Lee Si An’s behavior towards male contestants
Lee Si An was very divisive during the series, and while some loved her, others criticized her for seemingly leading on three different men. She showed feelings towards them all but seemed to change her mind often, with her focus shifting.

8. Theo Jang liking a “pick me” comment
Theo Jang was caught liking a comment that described Lee Si An as a “pick me” and gained a lot of criticism for the action.
Following major criticism, Theo seemingly put the rumors of discourse to rest as he apologized for his actions, adding that he is still good friends with both Si An and Yuk Jun Seo.
9. Kim Tae Hwan’s treatment of Bae Ji Yeon
Netizens were initially happy when Kim Tae Hwan and Bae Ji Yeon went on a date together, and while they wanted more screen time when they did, it disappointed them. Ji Yeon’s description of the date made Tae Hwan look very narcissistic.

Te Hwan didn’t seem as interested in her as she seemingly thought, sharing that there were moments of awkwardness and that certain things seemed quite self-centered, like when he was speaking about himself a lot or leaving Ji Yeon behind in the activities.
