‘Trainwreck: Poopcruise’ Breaks A Documentary Record & ‘Squid Game’ Season 3 Soars – Netflix Top 10 Report

Trainwreck Poopcruise Breaks Netflix Doc Record

Picture: Netflix

A quieter week in the Netflix top 10s last week as Squid Game took over the slate for the week and rightfully so with season 3 currently beating season 2 in terms of views so far, but there’s a long way to go. A new Netflix documentary about a cruise ship filled with sewerage and poo managed to break a Netflix documentary record this week and we’ve also got updates on Dept. Q and Ginny & Georgia

Note: In this report of Netflix’s hours viewed from June 23rd, 2025, to June 29th, 2025, we’ll use “Complete Viewings Equivalent,” or CVE, expressed in millions. That means we divide the hours viewed announced by Netflix by the runtime of films or series. It allows for better comparisons between films and series, but it’s not an audience metric. It is the minimum number of viewings if they were all complete from the first second to the last second of the film or season.

1. Squid Game season 3

Will Netflix experience another global phenomenon like Squid Game? This small South Korean series was released with relatively little fanfare and then exploded in popularity, becoming the most-watched Netflix Original series to date with over 600 million “views,” according to Netflix. I wouldn’t bet against Netflix in this game, but while the success of Adolescence has shown that English-language series can break out, it’s easier said than done for an international show. In any case, the final season of Squid Game was released last week (on Friday, not Thursday, unlike the previous season), and its launch set a new record with 60.1 million CVEs in its first three days.

It’s a bigger launch than both parts of Stranger Things Season 4, and even compared to the premiere of Squid Game Season 2, Season 3 is performing slightly better, as outlined by the graph below, which takes into account the days of launch.

It might not do as well as season 2 over the course of the next weeks, but since the season is already in the all-time Top 10, we will see its evolution over at least the next twelve weeks.

2. Trainwreck: Poop Cruise

Another record was broken this week, just so you know. Trainwreck: Poop Cruise had the best launch for a Tuesday-released documentary, with 21.1 million CVEs in six days — far ahead of The Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker. This one will not end up in the all-time Top 10 (alas) but it’s not crappy at all.

As you may know, the Trainwreck documentary series is running all throughout the Summer of 2025, with more on the way throughout July including The Cult of American Apparel which just launched this week, The Real Project X on July 8th, Balloon Boy on July 15th, P.I. Moms on July 22nd and Storm Area 51 on July 29th. Performance on Poop Cruise will be hard for those other docs to top because 21M views is far and away beyond the ~6M views Mayor of Mayhem and The Astroworld Tragedy picked up:

3. Dept. Q

The British series Dept. Q continues to hold on and is showing a nice upward trajectory. Over its first 28 days, a renewal seems almost certain, as it sits well above the danger zone where KAOS was cancelled (23.7M CVEs vs. 15.5M). The only unknown is what Netflix’s expectations were for the series — if they were hoping for more, things might be trickier. It’s not a slam dunk, far from it, with Supacell delivering over 6 million more views in the same period, and Black Doves and The Gentlemen substantially more.

4. Sirens and Ginny and Georgia are twins.

Currently, in the Top 10, two series are engaged in a battle for the ages: the limited series Sirens and season 3 of Ginny & Georgia are neck and neck over their first respective four weeks, with essentially the same trajectory. It’s not the first time this has happened, as many programs have very similar trajectories over their first weeks of release. However, it’s the first time it’s happened for a series present in the Top 10 at the same time.
