Girls’ Generation member Seohyun made her K-Drama debut in 2013, and since then, she has blossomed into a solid actress. Now, she’s making her first-ever big-screen female lead debut in Korea with actor Don Lee-produced K-Movie, Holy Night: Demon Hunters.
In the 2025 action thriller, set to premiere on April 30 KST, the idol-turned-actress played Sharon, a character who exorcises evil. The movie has since built high anticipation, with her fans looking forward to Seohyun’s shocking transformation from the soft and sweet maknae image she was known and loved for.
Thanks to the amazing work of the costume and makeup teams, I think Sharon’s character really left a strong impression. I don’t think I pulled it off purely because of my own visuals. At first, I wondered, ‘Is it okay for me to appear like this?’ But hearing people say I truly looked like the character gave me confidence.

About taking on new challenges like the Sharon role, Seohyun mentioned in a recent interview that she does, indeed, go for roles that intrigue her to get creative.
I choose roles that make me go, ‘This looks fun, I want to try it.’ If I clearly sense that a role will allow me to show a different side of myself, I go for it. I know and accept that I have long held on to that ‘wholesome’ good-girl image, but people who meet me in person often say, ‘You’re so different!’ They still think of me as the person I was 15 years ago.

Revealing her passion for acting, the idol-turned-actress also noted that she’s open to all kinds of roles, from murderers to psychopaths. But of all the roles that fuel her ambition as an actress, Seohyun does have one—and only one—role that she will not take on:
After being Girls’ Generation’s youngest member for two decades, I feel like I became too tied down to a single image. I’ve always had this thirst to show different versions of myself with each project. The fact that someone saw this script and thought of me to offer me the role? I’m just so grateful for that.
But I don’t want to take on characters that involve nudity. That’s where I draw the line. Aside from that, I’m open to anything (Laughs).

In 2022, Seohyun led a Netflix original, Love And Leashes, that also earned high praise for being a “fresh approach” in the K-Movie scene. Read more about it here:
