According to various community sites and Korean news sources, rising actor Choo Young Woo was recently swept up in controversy when it was found that he had been following a controversial streamer on social media. Choo Young Woo was found to be following streamer KUBIN, a popular VJ with over 435,000 subscribers on YouTube alone. He has unfollowed her after the controversy came to light.
Netizens pointed out that KUBIN often used sexual innuendos in her thumbnails to attract people. Some of her controversial captions or titles include the following:
- “Putting my ‘nether regions’ on the line as I say this.”
- “BB (same starting consonants as ‘boob’) mukbang.”
- “Do you want to have __EX with me?”
Although KUBIN herself does not stream overly sexual items or dress revealingly, her clickbait methods have rubbed many the wrong way. It is also usually frowned upon for celebrities to publicly indicate following or viewing of streamer content.
- Ugh, what’s with that?
- Barf.
- He’s so transparent.
- Sigh, pathetic.
- Why is he and Kim Sung Cheol like that? He should just filter all his other followings too, not just a few. Seems like most of it is rather weird.
- Although most thumbnails these days are clickbait, this is too much.
Choo Young Woo had recently risen in popularity due to shows such as The Tale of Lady Ok and The Trauma Code: Heroes On Call. Previously, fellow actor Kim Sung Cheol got into controversy with his social media as well. You can read about it below.
