In a recent Weverse live stream, KATSEYE’s Manon spilled all the details about an “embarrassing” encounter with a BTS member that would leave anyone mortified.
Currently in South Korea for KATSEYE’s upcoming “Gnarly” music show promotions, Manon insisted she was battling serious jetlag and sickness when the equally hilarious and cringeworthy situation took place. The members were leaving the HYBE headquarters after a long day of work when they crossed paths with an unexpected labelmate in the elevator.
We walk out, and a guy is standing there from a very popular boy group — the same group as J-Hope.

In her sleep-deprived state, Manon was convinced she, Lara, and Yoonchae were bumping into BTS’s J-Hope, who recently met the group at his Los Angeles, California concert. And, despite being tired, she decided to give him a big greeting, confessing to practically shouting, “Oh my god! Hi!” — only to be met with a blank look.
Later, in the car, Manon brought it up to her members. “I was like, ‘Guys, that’s so weird,’” she said, “‘Does he not remember us?” But unfortunately for Manon, she was the one who misremembered. “They were like, ‘Girl, that was not him!’” she recalled, cringing from the memory.
I thought he was J-Hope, because I was so tired. I couldn’t really see him that well. I thought it was J-Hope, but it wasn’t.

Unsurprisingly, Manon was majorly embarrassed by the awkward moment, though the member in question handled it gracefully. Despite the mix-up, Manon says he was “really chill about it.”
He just said ‘hi,’ but I could tell that my ‘hi’ was very over the top. For a person that does not know who I am, it might have been a little random to have a girl just be like, ‘Oh my god! Hi!’ because we have never met before.”

She clarified that the BTS member she met was not Jin, but declined to elaborate further. Many fans have speculated that it could have been Suga, given the bemused expression Manon mimed and the fact that Suga and J-Hope have similar builds.

Others remember that J-Hope and Suga were commonly mistaken for each other in their earlier years.
I mean i remember being a baby army and confusing jhope with yoongi because they looked alike …I definitely do believe 100% it was probably yoongi who she saw 😭😭

Thankfully, to make up for the embarrassment, Manon does have a great relationship with the real J-Hope. She revealed that the KATSEYE members even have a group chat with him, where he’s always quick to respond (even to “random” questions, like his favorite Korean snacks).
